We also have sales regularly, so check back often.There is always a Sale by TheBay!We recently came across a Bernina Artista 170 Quilter's Edition sewing machine that had quite a few different feet, an extension table, a multiple spool holder and an attachment that slides around the part of the machine that you slide the workpiece across and holds quite a few extra feet, tools and other small accessories. The machine even had the original instructions in a Bernina binder, a Bernina VHS tape that came with the machine, the knee bar, the carrying case and of course the foot pedal. This machine ran perfectly the last time it was used, but it has been stored in its case in the dining room for the last several years. We trust it is in excellent working condition still, but the next owner may wish to oil the machine in the areas that are typically oiled from time to time since it's been unused for a few years. We'll be selling the feet, most of the accessories and the machine individually, so if you're in need of more Bernina stuff, feel free to check out our inventory before it sells and we'll be happy to provide combined shipping.Now onto the item for sale.For sale is a Bernina Artista 170 Quilter's Edition Platinum sewing machine.This sewing machine is about as complete as you will find. It comes with the carrying/storage case, an extension table that connects to the back of the case, a slip on extension/accesory storage case, a knee bar, the foot pedal/power cord, the original instruction manual and sewing manual in a binder and an 'Artista Sewing and Embroidery' VHS tape.As you can see, the sewing machine is extremely clean, as are are of the additional pieces that are included. We thumbed through both manuals and all pages are accounted for and there is no writing, creases are tears in/on any of the pages.The only thing we noticed, we we included a couple of picture above for you to see, is that when you open the bobbin cover, the lower cover below the metal sewing surface, drops down a bit on the end. However, it does set back in place once the bobbin door is closed again. We trust this cover must also come off for cleaning and maintenance, but we aren't sure if it should fall down a 1/4" when you open the bobbin cover.The manuals have a copyright of 1998 on it, so we know this machine dates to that year or a bit later.This machine was used for quilting primarily and was in excellent, working condition the last time it was used. It hasn't been used in several years, but it has been stored in the case in the dining room ever since. We trust it is still in working condition, but we do know that sewing machines need to be cleaned in certain areas periodically. As you can see in the short video above, we did plug it in, turned it on and pressed the foot pedal and the needle did move up and down as expected. The screen and the light also came on as expected.The manual has a section pertaining to cleaning and indicates that this machine does not need to be oiled and has a low mass hook system that elminates lubrication needs. Either way, the next owner may wish to give it a quick cleaning before use since it has been sitting unused for several years.PLEASE NOTE: This sewing machine will be shipped in a heavy duty 24" by 21" x 20" box from Home Depot. We always glue the bottom and top flaps of boxes for heavy items to add strength during shipping. We also put a thin piece of wood the exact size of the bottom of the box that we drill holes through and use thin rope to firmly keep the item, in this case the sewing machine, from moving around inside. This adds additional weight, but we have yet to have any item damaged in shipping by doing this.This sewing machine is quite heavy and weighs more than 30 pounds. It will weigh more than 40 pounds more when packed for shipping, especially with the wood on the bottom of a heavy duty box. It will be mailed FULLY insured via UPS Ground which we use for heavy items since they handle packages much better than the USPS.PLEASE NOTE: This sewing machine is pretty expensive to ship the further you are away from the Atlanta, GA area due to the weight and oversize box. We trust eBay is not factoring in any shipping discount we receive when they calculate the shipping cost.
