Description: The Big Business of Life: The Business of Abolishing Work and Turning This World Back into a Playground, Success for All, by Ralph Parlette. Published in 1920 by Parlette-Padget Company, Chicago. Hardcover, 142 pages (plus 2 pages of ads in the back), with a full page cartoon and smaller cartoons heading the chapters. This is really more of a self-motivational book than an appeal to lethargy -- for example, the first chapter urges one to find their "flashlight" and "shine and succeed." SIGNED and inscribed on the front flyleaf: "To my friend, H. W. Fay, with admiration for the man and his work, Ralph Parlette, Chicago, Sept. 3, 1925, etc." In addition, there's a signed photo of the author (on heavy card stock) enclosed, plus some newspaper clippings, including the author's obituary. Otherwise unmarked, securely bound. Occasional brown oxidation stains inside. There's staining/fading of the bottom corners of the boards, as well as rubbed through bottom board corners, small nicks along the board edges and a bumped spine head. Faded spine titles. Free shipping in the USA. Thank you for looking! Loc: vintage self help/motivational section.
