Description: HERE IS AN 8 1/2" X 11" PERSONAL LETTER, WRITTEN AND SIGNED BY BILL YOUNG. LETTER WAS WRITTEN WHILE COACH YOUNG WAS AN ASSISTANT COACH AT FURMAN. IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION, WITH A MAILING FOLD & SOME EDGE WEAR. LETTER IS DATED OCTOBER 6, 1949 AND IS WRITTEN ON FURMAN UNIVERSITY PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS STATIONARY. BILL "BIG BILL" YOUNG WAS AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN IN THE NFL FOR THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS FOR 7 YEARS--FROM 1937-42 AND IN 1946. HE WAS A PRO-BOWL SELECTION IN 1942/WAS A 2-TIME NFL CHAMPION. (IN COLLEGE AT ALABAMA, HE WAS PART OF THE 1934 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.) COACH YOUNG WAS THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT FURMAN FROM 1950-54. BILL YOUNG DIED JANUARY 21, 1994.
