Description: Up for sale is a photo blessing from Cardinal Amelito Giovanni Cicognani Segretario de Stato di Sua Santita. It is inscribed and signed, "To the Sisters of Mercy of the Union asking God to bless abundantly their great apostolate - A.G. Card. Cicognani Protector - Vatican City, July 18, 1962." Amleto Giovanni Cicognani was an Italian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Vatican Secretary of State from 1961 to 1969, and Dean of the College of Cardinals from 1972 until his death. Cicognani was elevated to the cardinalate in 1958. The piece measures approximately 9 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches and is housed in a frame that measures approximately 16 x 19 1/2 inches. The gold frame has scratches, chips and stains. There is foxing and stains - some of the stains are on the back of the glass, but there is definitely damage to the matting, as well. It looks like the piece itself is free of stains, but there may bestains to it, as well, but it has not been examined outside of the frame. Should be nicely re-matted and framed.
