The originals were prone to leakage and consequently, because no replacement parts were available in prior years, many originals were discarded and replaced with the newer Karcoma fuel valves. If you own one of these bikes, then no matter how painstakingly restored or original it might be, without an bullet shaped Everbest fuel tap , it's not quite complete. 😁 The later model fuel taps work just fine but they do not have the correct period look. These have the classic appearance and belong on the older models. This is a top quality reproduction of the original Everbest with internal seals that are made of modern fuel compatible materials that can work with E5 and E10 fuels. The Original Everbest fuel valves were made by a company called EVEGA in Nuremberg. Karkoma (then Karco-Armaturenwerk) purchased EVEGA in 1962 and continued to supply this style valve to BMW up to approximately 1975, at which time the newer, re-build able fuel valves from Germa or Karcoma were substituted, but those lack the cool style of the original Everbest . These fuel taps will also fit all BMW Airhead models. The models and years specified above only refer to when these fuel valves were originally installed. The beautiful shape and art Deco Styling will look great on later models too. This is a brand new reproduced Everbest fuel tap and it has the following settings... ON, OFF and RESERVE. This has obviously been produced for the German market and so is labelled as R - Reservieren = Reserve Zu = Closed / Shut /Off A - Auf = On Note that our tap has the fuel feed on the bottom just like the original. The casting of our taps is superb and they are all checked for smooth operation before dispatch. These are very nice taps with a tight feel and good seal 😊 Please take a good look at the pictures of our taps and see if you can find better castings elsewhere! These are even better than the originals ! Don't mess about trying to split your old taps to fix them, they had cork seals and were staked together. Apart from that it's not worth wasting time even trying to fix them when you can buy something like this from us so cheaply! Our taps are as good as you are going to buy, I've searched high and low for a long time for taps for these bikes plus other classic bikes that are just right and these are the very best! we check each tap before dispatch for any casting errors and tightness of the tap. We like the lever to be fairly tight and not too easily turned. To date, we have had no returns or issues with our supplier and manufacturer. Fitting this will eradicate all the usual problems of old taps not working and fuel not flowing or leaking taps. Technical specifications: These taps are very well made with very good casting material and tolerances, they are not made from 'monkey metal' like lots of other cheap taps are. I've bought them!... and binned them! This will be a direct fit on your bike. Connection to fuel line: 7 or 8mm internal diameter pipe. We sell very good quality heavy wall thickness E5 and E10 compliant petrol pipe to suit these taps. We recommend that you fit a large inline filter too as these taps do not have filter bowls or mesh filters on the tank tubes. There is however an internal bottom filter screen which can be removed easily for cleaning. NOTE, We do sell a TOP FILTER SET to fit this tap.
