These wheels fit the original redlines from 1968 & 1969. They are typical wheels for the Custom Mustang, Custom Camaro, '57 Bird, Custom Barracuda, Custom Cougar, Silhouette, Custom Firebird, Beatnik Bandit as well as many other castings. See panel on the right for a complete listing of castings these wheels will fit. Deep Dish wheels were originally issued on the very early castings made in Hong Kong. Most of the original 16 cars from 1968 had limited runs with Deep Dish wheels, and are highly sought after by collectors. Due to difficulty in manufacturing, the Deep Dish wheels were discontinued very early on. Deep Dish wheels are an instant indicator of "Early Run" cars, and their look is very cool! So cool, that collectors restorers and customizers have outfitted cars with Deep Dish wheels that never came with them originally. The main reason they look so great is that the mag is inset from the face of the tire. More common redline wheels have the mag flush with the face of the tire. Deep Dish wheels originally came with a dull silver or “Argent” colored mag. That’s how these wheels are made. All the way down to the zinc plating, material and manufacturing method, this tool is spot on! Even the small eyelet is there! Someone back in the 1960s thought the kids would wear the tool around their neck so they could repair the cars frequently as they blew through the superchargers!! Two important improvements were made to increase the functionality of the wrench; The thickness was increased slightly and the blade support was extended on the bottom of the tool. Both changes make the tool more rigid, so when you’re actually using it, the job gets done without any bending, unlike the originals which bent very easily. Each tool is made of high-grade stamped steel with zinc plating. Both the front and back sides are blank. The finish looks a lot like the finish on the bases of the early cars from 68-72.
