Description: Bubbly Translucent Purple Amethyst Orbs Grape Agate Specimen #1 Locality: Mamuju area, Sulawesi Barat Province Indonesia Size: 4.5 x 4.0 x 3.0 centimeters - Notes - - This is a nice quality specimen of purple chalcedony/amethyst from the relatively new find in Indonesia, also commonly referred to as “Grape Agate” - Specifically, the specimens from Sulawesi have been properly identified as amethyst. Under magnification, you can see that each ball is a sphere composed of hundreds of tiny individual amethyst crystals radiating out from the middle. At the core of each sphere may be a tiny dot of chalcedony/agate. It has a different paragenesis than agate and does not have typical layered botryoidal crystal structure. Surprisingly, these are actually spheres of microscopic radial amethyst needles! - Complete on all sides - Good condition - This one has extraordinarily large spheres!! Questions?
