Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features an Arthur S. Burnell patent, dated June 19, 1877. This wire is called "Burnell's Hooked Four Point War or Military Stockade Wire" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 532-B). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are four pointed made from two round barbing wires. One point of each barb is inserted between the wraps, and ends hooked together. Remained of barbing wires are wrapped together around both line wires. Barbs are closely spaced and have vicious long barbing points. Sample shows moderate oxidation. Sample is 18" in length and has five barbs. Barbs are well spaced and cut is well centered. Barbing points show light bending. There are no broken or missing barbing points.
