Description: porcelain figure is illustrated in L. Mitchell's ''Meissen: Collector's Catalogue,'' Woodbridge, 2004, p. 69, plate 4. Sculptor Peter Reinicke worked at the Meissen Factory from 1743 until 1768. His models continued to be made after he left Meissen. The piece is a delightful young boy sitting on top of a pair of baskets on a rocaille-molded base. He's holding a bouquet of flowers and is finely dressed in a purple frock coat and breeches, a black hat decorated with bows, a red and white striped waistcoat and black shoes. There are touches of gold everywhere on the figure and the baskets. The pair of baskets has painted flowers and insects on the inside and applied porcelain flowers on the outside, some with leaves and petals missing. There's also a tiny chip on the back side of the hat's brim, as shown in detail. The figure is marked underneath with the Meissen mark of two crossed swords, with "pommel: marks in blue and a hand incised model number "3024." There's also an impressed number "121"(?) and, not under the glaze, it's marked in black ink with the painter's number "70." It's about 5 1/2" wide and 5" tall.
