Description: Maker: This gorgeous large serving platter is by the iconic English china maker Copeland Spode. A printed W.T. Copeland Spode mark is on the back along with an impressed semi-circle Copeland mark, the pattern number 2 528 and a painter's mark. Age: The printed mark dates the platter's production to between 1868 and 1890. The Spode name is not on this platter - it was added to the mark in 1890. Source: the potteries.org Design: The pattern is called Canton. It features a stylized floral band and a center design of a Chinese vase, table and lantern. Size: The platter is 17 inches long, 13 1/2 inches wide and 1 3/8 inches deep. It weighs 4 pounds. Condition: It's in excellent condition, especially considering its age. There are no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, discoloration, repairs or significant wear. There are a few dark marks on the back near the edge - they're visible in the photos - and a few faint utensil marks that can be seen in bright light. Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
