Made of beautiful handmade Mexican Talavera and painted in a bright colors and a lively design, this sculpture will add charm to your patio, garden, or home decor. It is made for wall display. Talavera is a glazed pottery produced in Mexico, mostly in the region of Puebla (due to the quality of clay in that region). Talavera is the oldest tin glazed ceramic in the Americas. It is still manufactured using the same techniques as in the 16th century. The picture shows the one you will recive same color and pattern. Each piece is made of ceramic and painted in the traditional Talavera style. Since each piece is individually hand painted by Talavera artists, no two pieces will be identical and the picture is a representation of the general painting patterns and colors used. Talavera is an art form that has its roots starting in the 16th Century. Original styles have been influenced with Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Chinese origins. The Spaniards brought the technique to Mexico with a distinctive style that came from Talavera de la Reina, a city in the central part of Spain. From there it developed into a contemporary art form that is still extremely popular that many villages were built just to support the making of the numerous forms that can be purchased today.
