Description: This is a very rare and gorgeous polychrome peacock tile from California Clay Products (Calco) of South Gate, California (1923-1932), founded by Rufus Bradley Keeler. This tile measures 11" tall, 5 1/2" wide and 1" deep, made in the 1920s. Peacocks were a common theme of many of the Los Angeles tile companies in the 1920's and 1930's. This tile is vintage but in beautiful, like new, condition, no chips, cracks or scratches. There is no evidence of grout on the back or sides of the tile (please see photos), it was never set. This would be an exquisite addition to any Arts and Crafts home or any vintage tile collection. It has been in a private collection since the 1990's.Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like more photos.
