Description: Calotropis procera is a perennial shrub or small tree in the Apocynaceae family. It's native to Indochina, Western Asia, South Asia, North Africa, and Tropical Africa. Some common names include Sodom Apple, King's Crown, Rubber Bush, and Apple of Sodom. It can reach heights of 15 feet by 15 feet wide, growing as a perennial. If grown as an annual it 6 feet can be expected. This Calotropis has purple and white flowers, while the Calotropis gigantea is more green and white and grows much faster. Calotropis procera can grow in most soils if kept moist with good drainage. It loves full sun but can grow in part shade as well. Zones 9-11 Germination Soak seeds in warm water overnight. Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-70F. Germination is in 21-30 days.
