Description: INFORMATION ON THE GEORGE A. ABEEL PHOTO COLLECTION: This collection was acquired by Jonah's Online Sales in August of 2023 from an auction in Skaneateles NY. Information from this collection is either noted in the photo albums or directly received from the auction from which it was acquired. The collection contains more than 1600 original photographs taken by photographer "George A. Abeel" - In the manner of Ansel Adams - Mostly during trips to Colorado, the "Grand Trunk" in Canada and South to Florida as well as around Central New York State and the Adirondack Mountains - The photographs were taken during the 1920s - The Trips were taken by Train, Automobile and Steamship - Mr. Abeel was a EXCELLENT photographer with the proper equipment to capture the broad vistas and intimate details of his trips (he used Ziess, Kodak Graflex and telephoto lenses to capture his shots) - There are images of Automobiles, Native American Totem Poles, Children, Women, Men, Animals (including Bears, Goats, Marmots, Squirrels, Chipmunks, Deer, Alligators, etc.) and Historic Sites - Many images are identified - They remain in overall very nice condition. There are some panoramic scenes pasted together to form one continuous image. There is very little information found about George A, Abeel, however he is identified in some of the photographs as being in the "Sousa Band" and there is reference to Cornell. To this date, I have sold thousands of images on eBay from many collections, however I have never seen the quality and detail of photos from this era quite like this and taking a photo of a photo does not do it justice, it is much better in person. I struggle with breaking up one man's work such as this, however I believe these photos will bring joy to many rather than just one. ****THE LAST 2 PHOTOS IN THE LISTING ARE PAGES OF THE PHOTO ALBUM AND ARE FOR DOCUMENTATION PURPOSES ONLY TO SHOW THE PROSPECTIVE BUYER AS MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PHOTO AS POSSIBLE, HOWEVER THE PHOTO ALBUM PAGES WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE SALE**** ITEM: Camp Monroe Fourth Lake Upper New York c. 1923 Photo by George Abeel SIZE: photo about 3.5" by 5.5" plus paper backing CONDITION: good as seen, does have paper from photo album on back with original description SHIPPING: photos under $80- free USPS Ground Advantage shipped in a cardboard envelope, Priority extra at buyers option photos greater than $80- free Priority mail lots/collections/sets may be handled differently depending on the itemInternational mail is extraNOTICE TO INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: we do use eBay's Global Shipping Center for international orders, this allows for tracking from shipment to delivery protecting both the buyer and seller, however we cannot revise invoices for multiple orders.
