Description: For sale is a Canon P rangefinder film camera, with L39 screw mount. It's in great condition, having been professionally cleaned, lubricated and adjusted in February of this year. The CLA included the following: general overhaul, shutter mechanism overhaul, low speed adjust, high speed adjust, curtain speed adjust, winding overhaul, body focus adjust, finder focus adjust, and repair and CLA with gwo (not sure what gwo is). It's ready to shoot, the film advance is silky smooth and the rangefinder is accurate with the lenses I was using. The metal first curtain is in like new condition, the metal second curtain has a few insignificant wrinkles. The original split-rings for the strap were removed, but are included, as is a black plastic body cap. A nice feature of the Canon P is that it was designed to not need the foam light seals that are common on older cameras and often need replacing, so no light leaks here. The Canon P's were made between December 1958 and May 1961. The style of the film minder dial on the back indicates this one was made later in the run rather than earlier. The Canon P was a big seller for Canon; Peter Dechert, in his comprehensive book on Canon rangefinders calls it, "a solid honest camera which merited its popular sales success." U.S shipping only. Thanks for looking!
