Description: Carl Thieme Dresden Hand Painted Watteau Scene Floral Reticulated 6 3/8 Inch Plate Beautiful reticulated porcelain bread plate. Nicely decorated in the popular Meissen / Dresden style with a Renaissance era courting couple in the center. The man is wearing purple and has a white neck ruff. The girl is wearing a Tudor / Renaissance era gown with a pink bodice with a blue skirt with yellow underskirt. They are surrounded by trees and foliage. There are four small hand painted flowers around the scene and gold gilt scrollwork designs along the inner rim. The reticulated edge is hand painted with flowers in pink, blue, orange, yellow and purple. With gold gilt scrollwork framing some of the flowers and double gold gilding along the edge. Marked on the reverse with the blue Carl Thieme mark used in Dresden Germany around 1901. Dresden as added below the mark in overglaze blue. Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 6 3/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
