Besides Spacek, this film launched the careers of many up and coming actors: John Travolta, Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, PJ Soles, William Katt, Betty Buckley and revived Piper Laurie's career with a Best Supporting Actress nom as Carrie's religious fanatic monster of a mother. This is one of the best shockers of the 1970s and far surpasses all remakes. Definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it.
