Description: A rare and scarce albumen photograph album of Shanghai during the diamond jubilee of 1897. Tuck Tai, Photographers. Shanghai Jubilee, 1897, a series of street scenes recording celebrations of Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee including illuminations at the British Consulate, the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank bedecked with lanterns and crowds lining the street outside the Custom House, 14 albumen prints, each 8 in. x 10 in., mounted on both sides of card leaves hinged concertina-style between original half roan and cloth covers. The covers of the book show wear. The actual prints are in an very good order ( with light age wear to some) for the age with some markings to the mounts. The concertiana effect has separated in one area of the album so please be aware of this.
