Old Chinese Cinnabar Box Owned By President Franklin Roosevelt Eleanor From The 1951 FDR Estate Auction by Hammer Galleries This is an incredible piece! It is a small antique Chinese lacquered cinnabar box that is a beauty by itself, but the best part is that it belonged to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt!The label is from an auction of the estate of the Roosevelt collection by the Hammer Galleries in 1951. The box is about 3 3/4" long x 2 3/4" deep and about 1.5" tall. It has wear and lacquer loss in spots, some small corner splits but overall very good condition. The bottom is crackled, stamped CHINA, and the label has discolored a bit. A fantastic piece of memorabilia from one of our great presidents and first ladies! Items I sell are not new.
