Roth.” RARE 46TH NEW YORK INFANTRY REGIMENT BADGE PERSONALLY ENGRAVED AND PRESENTED TO PHILIPP HENNECKER IN 1959 Engraved on a repurposed 1845 5 Francs coin, held by a pierced and engraved gold star mount, contains a T-bar affixed to reverse, measures 3.25 in diameter, and in very fine condition with only minor wearing from use. HENNECKER TRANSFERRED TO THE 14TH NEW YORK INFANTRY REGIMENT IN MAY 1861 AND FOUGHT AT THE BATTLES OF ANTIETAM, FREDERICKSBURG, AND CHANCELLORSVILLE The 46th Infantry was commanded by Colonel Richard G. Savery and Lewis Roth was the commandant of Company C. During the Civil War, the regiment saw heavy action at the Battles of Second Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Siege of Vicksburg, Knoxville Campaign, Wilderness, Cold Harbor, and Appomattox Campaign. Hennecker transferred to the 14th New York Infantry Regiment in May 1861 and fought at the Battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
