The Cleveland Manx Society has a history rooted in the Isle of Man and its immigrants. -The society originated from two key organizations: Mona’s Relief Society and Mona’s Mutual Benefit Society. These groups provided assistance to immigrants from the Isle of Man, which was once known as Mona. Mona's Relef Society, organized by 21 Manx settlers in 1851, aimed for "the mutual improvement of its members" and provided charitable relief to Manxmen in need.Over time, Mona’s Relief Society evolved into the Cleveland Manx Society. By the mid-1970s, it had 133 members. The society played a significant role in the Manx community, organizing annual Manx festivals, picnics, and other events to raise funds for relief work.
