Description: This is a neat, rare, Confederate provisional cover(w/a nice, relatively distinct, "PAID 5;" envelope is quite clean, only has a few, minute nicks in its edges, and has a back flap that is about 90-95% intact, but with some small tears and holes;) sent on December 9, 1861, from Eutaw(a superb, double-circle CDS!), Alabama, to a Mrs. O(smun). A(ppling). Wynne, of Hollow Square, Greene County, Alabama! It's hard to say as to who the sender was, but there are numerous examples of correspondence between members of the Wynne Family, and between The Wynnes and friends/other relatives available for viewing online. I did find a letter sent in 1870 by a Mrs. Pollard of Eutaw, to a member of the Wynne(was her maiden name) Family. Noted imperfections aside, this Eutaw, Alabama, provisional remains a really nifty piece of Confederate, postal history!
