Description: The popular July 22, 1776 issue was authorized shortly after Congress adopted the declaration of independence. Additionally, the $1 denomination was eliminated from this issue. This $3 note features an emblem of an eagle and heron fighting. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “EXITUS IN DUBIO EST” (The outcome is in doubt). The reverse features nature print of skeletonized elm and maple fruit. Attractive problem free example of this scarce issue, usually seen tattered.
