Description: The September 26, 1778 issue featured new $50 and $60 denominations. It also marks high inflation in colonial times due to $75,000,000 in bills authorized and the release of these higher denominations. This $50 note features an emblem of a stepped pyramid of 13 levels which represents the unity of the 13 colonies. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “PERENNIS” (Everlasting). The reverse features a unique print of arrows. Extremely scarce contemporary counterfeit with only 38 graded by PMG. Additionally, this was a very well done example, likely produced by the British with the mission of sinking the American economy. Interestingly, this note has a small butterfly fold error. Gorgeous near uncirculated example with bright crisp paper and high eye appeal. A historically significant note for any Continental collection.
