This is often referred to as "Twenty Thou Over". Many times when an engine is being rebuilt after a failure, the cylinder walls are slightly damaged, requiring the clinder hole to be bored out. This process removes any surface irregularities from the cylinder wall, exposing a clean true surface. This oversized piston is used to make up the specified difference of material removed by boring the hole bigger. Consult with your machine shop to determine what diameter your engine will be required to be bored to, then buy the corresponding oversized piston. We use CP Pistons here in the shop regularly, and have yet to run into any issues with them. You can count on CP to get it right, and provide you with a part that can hold up in extreme conditions.
