Align the ruler on the strip and cut up the 45-degree edge of the ruler to create a 45-degree angle on the strip as shown. Turn the strip around so that the 45-degree cut is under the ruler. Line up the cut edge on the 45-degree line marked at 8 1/2-inch and make a second cut to create a diamond. Use the holes in the ruler to mark the 1/4-inch intersections. Sew eight together to make a star.
