She is a Full Professor at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington Schools of Public Health and Medicine in Seattle, Washington. She is an elected Fellow in The Obesity Society and the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. McTiernan is the author of Starved: A Nutrition Doctors Journey from Empty to Full (Central Recovery Press, November 2016). She has also edited two academic texts and has authored over 400 scientific articles in medical journals.
