Curiosities Of Mathematics, 876, Vintage Antique LITTLE BLUE BOOK 1925

Description: This book is titled "Curiosities of Mathematics" (Book #876) is dated 1925 and authored by Edward Condon. Please see photos for actual item for sale. Condition: It is in good condition for its age, all intact without tears or creasing and no missing pages (see photos). Slight discoloration and discoloring all attributable to mild aging while staples do not appear to show anything other than mild aging. All pages are intact and readable. We consider this one “good condition” vs great due to cover condition… its cover shows a bit more darkened aging than others we have listed. As well, the cover has a slight crease mid-spine and a corner cut/tear, and the back cover has a small piece missing at top (see photo). Note: I have described this book to the best of my ability, although I am not a professional book dealer. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. These books were purchased as part of a Miami University of Oxford, OH professor’s antique book collection. History: These vintage Little Blue Books, edited by E. Haldeman-Julius, were published by Haldeman-Julius Publications of Girard, Kansas from 1919 to 1945 with the aim of fostering basic education for "the working man." Measuring 3.5"x 5", they were designed to fit in your pocket. History of Author of Note: Edward Uhler Condon b1902 – d1974 was an American nuclear physicist, a pioneer in quantum mechanics, and a participant during World War II in the development of radar and, very briefly, of nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project. The Franck–Condon principle and the Slater–Condon rules are co-named after him. He was a professor at Columbia and Princeton Universities and author of the renowned Condon Report. Also the author of “Quantum Mechanics”, the first English-language text on the subject in 1929 and “Theory of Atomic Spectra” that was considered a bible on the subject from the moment of its 1935 publication.
