Description: Dachshund, Wiener Dog, Weenie Dog Metal Paperweight, dated 1886 Given by J & A Freiberg Distillers & Liquor Dealers from Ohio These were given Jan. 1, 1886, to customers of J & A Freiberg, Distillers of Cincinnati, OH. J & A Freiberg was in business from 1866-1918 and they were Distillers and Wholesale Wine and Liquor Dealers. The paperweight's approximate measurements are just a little under 4" in length, 1-7/8" wide, 2-1/2" tall. See pictures for exact measurements. One side of the base is embossed with "COMPLIMENTS OF J & A FREIBERG", the back side says "CINCINNATI OHIO". The date is stamped on either end. Jan. 1 and 1886 (the 1886 is a hard to read - see pictures). The underside is stamped with a maker's mark but all I can make out is the abbreviation for Cincinnati, Ohio. The bottom also has scratches. See pictures. Considering this item is 138 years old, it is in remarkable condition. It does show signs of age and has scratches. This cutie has great relief work except the year is hard to read on one end. On the underside, it is scratched and the maker's mark is difficult to read. The previous owner's initials are carved in the metal on the bottom. See pictures for details. See all pictures as they are considered part of the description.
