Das Schwarze Auge DARK FORCE German CCG - The Dark Eye

Description: This lot is for nearly 1,000 cards (I counted 981 but might be off by a few) from Schmidt Spiele’s CCG based on the Das Schwarze Auge (the Dark Eye) RPG from Germany. The game is called Dark Force and plays differently than Magic the Gathering or other dueling games – you use the lands to make fortifications and move your armies to engage in tactical warfare using the land cards like spaces. Armies must be led by leaders, and there are hidden movement mechanics and dice are used. Creatures in the game are sometimes restricted to certain land types, and combat can be ranged, flanking, magic, melee, air, and so on – so significantly more complex than Magic, perhaps more like a wargame CCG blend. I imported this game from Germany many years ago for the purpose of having a fun way to practice the language while gaming. As such, the entire collection is in German and cannot be played unless the player understands at least some German. I did, however, translate the entire rulebook into English to help clarify the game to English speakers before playing – I will include this translation with this lot! I purchased a box of starters and a box of boosters. The starter box is no more, but the booster box comes with this lot, along with 10 starter deck boxes and two booster foils as collector’s items. Card Types include: - Gelande (Lands) - Erweiterung (Land Modifiers) - Einheiten (Units: Heroes, Armies, Creatures) - Gegenstande (Items) - Zauber (Magic) - Wunder (Miracles) - Ereignis (Events) I won’t list all the cards here, but I can provide a sampling of some of them: - Hexennacht - Sensattacco - Bannbaladin - Zwergenpioniere - Schneelaurer - Schwarze Magierin - Wachturm - Rondras Kampfstarke - Magischer Raub Like Magic, Lands were common in this game, and so there are many of those, and therefore this lot is not loaded with “rare” cards, however there are plenty of options to choose from to make the game playable, if not competitive. Overall, a fun game for German-speakers or those learning to speak/read using a game that never made an appearance in the US, and using a rules system that is decidedly different from the usual head-to-head mechanics of Collectible Card Games.Let me know if you are interested in buying specific cards from this lot.
