Description: Stunning vintage Daum France art glass Pate de Verre Papillion butterfly lidded pedestal bowl / trinket dish in excellent condition. Finely detailed, the colors are wonderful! Measures 5 ¾” tall x 5” wide. Incised signature on bottom of base, photos. Daum is the only crystal manufacturer that continues to use the Pate de Verre or glass paste technique, which is incredibly elaborate. The technique produces a sculpture that has a transparent and even opaque coloring. It allows for minute details on the surface of the crystal and precise placement of the colors. During the firing process the crystal melts and allows for a flawless transformation of colors in the sculpture.
