Description: David Glasgow Farragut [1801 1870] was a flag officer of the United States Navy during the American Civil War. Farragut was the first rear admiral, vice admiral, and admiral in the United States Navy. He is well remembered for his leadership at the Battle of Mobile Bay, usually paraphrased as ''Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead'' in Navy tradition. He began his military career in 1810 and was a veteran of the War of 1812, West Indies anti-piracy operations, Mexican American War and the American Civil War. Listed for auction is the exceedingly rare autograph of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut signed on a card. The autograph is signed ''D. G Farragut'' and he added ''Admiral'' in black ink. The card measures 3.25 x 2.00 inches, it has trivial toning, was previously mounted, otherwise it is in fine condition. Also included in an original vintage engraving of the admiral.
