DIMENSIONS INCLUDING THE FRAME: 23” H x 27” W Irish-American artist David O’Doherty was born and educated in Dublin. He held his first solo exhibition in June 1956 at the Little Theatre, Brown Thomas, and in the same year began exhibiting at the Irish Living Art Exhibitions. After five years in Paris in the late 1950s, he returned to Dublin and began showing with the Ritchie Hendriks Gallery and the Independent Artists Group. A joint show with Brian Bourke, John Kelly, and Michael Kane at Hendriks in 1963 was a critical success. In the mid-sixties he moved to London and thence to North America. Further exhibitions have been held in the Fustemburg Gallery, Paris, and the Kennedy Gallery, Washington DC. He is represented in the collection of the Crawford Gallery, Cork.
