Description: I like this circuit because it uses a variable transformer ganged with the output voltage control potentiometer. Another transformer provides the minimum AC needed for the series-pass element (NPN transistors). The variable transformer raises that AC up to the amount needed for the 35VDC output. So, the series pass element has a reasonably constant voltage across it regardless of output current. This is efficient for a linear power supply. If overloaded or shorted the output current will be according to your setpoint control on the front panel. A separate small +/- 5VDC supply powers the electronics. A voltage reference (+2.5V) is used for both voltage and current regulator circuits.Output is isolated from the AC line.Schematics are included.
