Also included is a supplement showing cast iron and cast aluminum cap pistols. Both the booklet and the supplement are in very good condition. From the 1880s through the 1920s, Dent Hardware was one of the leading manufacturers of ice boxes. Dent also made ornate latches, handles, and grinders for household use. Dent started producing cast iron toys in 1898. The company was one of the first toy manufacturers to switch from cast-iron to die-cast toys following World War II. In 1955, Harry C. Dent, grandson of Harry H. Dent’s, split from his partners, sold his shares in the Dent Hardware Company to the Newhards, and established Dent Manufacturing. Douglas Dodge joined Dent Manufacturing in 1972. When Harry Dent retired, he sold his interest to the Dodge Family. In 2007, Dent Manufacturing became Dent Design Hardware. The Dent Hardware Company ceased operations in 1973. The Dent Hardware Company Factory Complex, also known as the D. W. Coombs Textile Machinery Company, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The complex consists of 11 buildings built between 1893 and 1913.
