Corners are bumped, but not conspicuously so. There are some white marks which might be shelf stains on back cover of vol. 1 and top front edge of vol.2. Moderate foxing stains on page edges and on pastedowns and endpapers. Interior is in good condition. Pages are clean and unmarked, with a few scattered light foxing stains. Old-book smell is detectable at close range. I did not notice it at reading distance. The extended title of the books is: Untrodden Fields of Anthropology-Observations on the esoteric Manners and Customs of Semi-Civilized Peoples; Being A Record Of Thirty Years' Experience In Asia,Africa,America and Oceania. Authorship is attributed to "A French Army-Surgeon". Vol. 1 is 343 pages. Vol. 2 is 502 pages. 9.25 inches x 6.25 inches.
