Description: Early 1980's Original Paracetamol 500mg Drug Rep NOS/Non-Working Promotional BP Pen w/ Attached Lanyard This offer is an offer for an original, new old stock (NOS) early 1980's vintage hard to find Paracetamol 500mg drug rep promotional plastic pen, with a non-functional black ballpoint pen ink tube, attached to a matching colored lanyard. The pen barrel slips into the cap end that has an attached lanyard. The pen also comes with it's original clear plastic tube as it was distributed by the pharmaceutical rep in the early 1980's. The ballpoint pen was a supply 'gift' given to health care providers by the drug rep in the early 1980's. The seller does not recall the exact year nor which drug company had promoted this item and best guess that it promotes paracetamol 500mg. The plastic pen barrel is embossed at the upper end: MODEL NO. PR.500. The bottom end of the barrel is marked: Korea Skill 49. The original ink tube is marked: Swiss Made. The seller does not recall what medication or drug company promoted this pen but PR 500 is an abbreviation for Paracetamol 500mg. In the US and Canada, we know the drug as acetaminophen while the remainder of the world refers to the med as paracetamol. The pen can be opened to replace the ink tube (cartridge) if needed. The caveat, however, is that the seller believes a European or an older styled ink tube may be needed. The length of the original ink tube is about the same as a BIC® Atlantis® ink tube, for example, but the seller found that the newer metal ball tips are too wide to fit through the tip end of the plastic barrel of this pen. It will take a fairly narrow metal tipped ink tube to replace the original ink tube, if the buyer decides to replace. See the attached image #5 which demonstrate the four parts to each pen: the barrel, cap, spring and ink cartridge (aka ink tube). Condition: The estimated 40 year old pen is new old stock and was never used. The pen has been stored inside its original clear cylindrical tube as it was receive from the drug rep in the early 1980's and was not taken apart or attempted to write until the seller began the process of taking photographs of this item for an Ebay listing. The ballpoint pen ink tube had dried out over the years in storage, which was not unexpected. Typically, ballpoint pen ink tubes can dry out after about 10 years of non-use. Overall, the pen is in excellent non-working condition. Sometime in the mid to late 2000's the drug companies began to pull back on handing out such promotional supply 'gifts' to medical health providers due to public awareness and their subsequent complaints to state and local officials. From that point in time, for a variety of reasons, there was significantly less distribution of such 'gifts'. So, this collection is from a time period that does not exist today.
