Description: Please check my other items for more bronzes including cold painted. Early 20thC Bergman Orientalist Manner Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Arab Praying. Mounted on a green onyx vide poche, the man is kneeling on a prayer mat with his shoes to one side.Unlike some modern versions of the ‘Praying Arab’ out there, this one can be accurately dated to the 1900-1930 period, not just because of paint wear but also the wear to the edge and base of the onyx and the type of screw used to affix the bronze. The base measures 19 x 11.5 cm, the bronze 8 x 7 cm. In good antique condition with a few nibbles to edge of onyx and paint wear commensurate with age and handling.
