'EARLY' STANLEY No. 53 Raised Hdles, Flat Sole Spoke Shave, Adj. Mouth, 2-1/8"

Description: Here we have an Early Antique STANLEY No. 53, Raised Handles, Flat Sole, Spoke Shave, with Adj. Mouth, 2-1/8" Blade. The shave back is marked: "BAILEY'S PATENT JULY.13.1858" This spoke shave is in Very Good 'used tool' condition with wear to the japanned finish. It has a very nice sole and mouth. The mouth opening is adjustable using the spring-loaded lever cap. The 2-1/8" wide blade is marked by Stanley and has the Early arched logo used from 1872-1884 !! The cutting edge is sharp, but should be checked out before use. No owner marks. Tool is approx.10" long. NO cracks, breaks or repairs.
