Description: Not an expert. From what I've read. The Spider Web/Star/W logo shown in the photos is that of the E.G. Webster & Son company. Underneath the logo is the stamped number 62. E.G. Webster was in business from 1859 to 1928 when it was bought by International Silver Co. This is my reasoning for dating the cup from to 1900-1940. I don't know for a fact that that is the true date of the cup. I don't know if Int'l Silver maintained/issued products using the E.G. Webster name and the Spider Web/Star/W logo or not after 1928. The flower engraving.....art nouveau??? If so, again, dates it to late 1800's/early 1900's? All amateur stuff on my part. I could not find any other example of a similar item with the hole in the bottom (or this particular cup with the engraved flower on the side for that matter). I am assuming that that is the way the cup was made since the hole seems to me to be original. It is perfectly round (with a slight usage doink on the edge) and is completely smooth to the touch implying it was machined and not "rough cut" by someone after the fact. Again, I don't know this as fact. It's tarnished and would probably polish up nicely based on the very bright/shiny appearance of the inside of the cup and lid. There are definitely scratches on the bottom and some on the sides of the cup mostly near the bottom face of the cup all around (I went back and added some additional photos while writing this to make sure I showed as much as possible). I believe that much of what is shown in the last 3 photos is not actually scratching but some of the tarnish being worn off but it is assuredly not scratch free. It weighs 8oz. 3 1/4" dia at the mouth (and ergo the lid), 2 1/2" dia at the base, the cup itself is 3 1/2" tall and is 4 1/2" tall to the point of the lid with the lid on. NOTE!!! Any easels, propping devices, rulers, etc shown in the photos are for displaying the item and are NOT included with the item. NOTE!!! In general, I have cleaned the item very lightly for any bulk surface dust, dirt, etc. I have NOT deep cleaned it and will not be doing so here. I am often dealing with antique/vintage/delicate items and am very reluctant (aka DON’T) do any deep cleaning for fear of affecting, damaging, removing paint/patina, etc from the item. The item is as shown in the photos. NOTE!!! Check the shipping costs. I try to overpack/oversize the shipping box/container to try to ensure safe, undamaged delivery. It’s worth the extra $ 1/2.
