Description: E. G. Webster & Son Silver Plated Repousse Cocktail Shaker with intact cork lidMarked on base of shaker with E. G. W. & S. markOriginal cork lidStopper is as noted in photosShaker is 7.5 inches tall with the cork lid on, and 5.5 inches wide (spout to handle)Weight is 1 pound and 4 ouncesManufactured by E. G. Webster & Son during the period 1886 to 1928 (New York, NY)E. G. Webster's son was Fred H. Webster; E.G. died in 1900. The business was continued by his son (Fred H. Webster) until 1928 when the firm was sold to International Silver Co.What is repousse? Decorated/hammered metal in which parts of the metal's design are raised in relief from the back or inside of the article. This is different than embossing. See photos of the inside of the shaker. This silver plated shaker is continuously decorated with repousse motifs featuring flowers, leaves, birds, and scrolls. The silver plated shaker has a beautiful look with areas of copper showing for an elegant antique feature. In the center of one side of the shaker are two people dancing outdoors next to a brick and beamed building. On the opposite side of the shaker in the center are two musicians; one standing with a violin and the other seated with a cello.Excellent condition for the approximately 100-year-old cocktail shaker. Two defects are 1) the stopper (most of the cork is missing, and the screw hardware pulled away from the decorative stopper cover) and 2) a slight indentation just to the left of the violin player; not noticeable unless you rub your finger over that small area.On the bottom of the shaker, there is a rectangle area under the E.G.W.&S. mark that was where my late father had placed a label of where and when he purchased the shaker. My father purchased it on October 18, 1981, at an estate sale near Soldier, Iowa. This has been stored in my non-smoking home.No international shipping
