Merrill Monson, Mass. Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. 7' 6". 2/2. Up for sale is a very nice E.L. Merrill bamboo fly rod. Although I could not find a whole lot of info on this rod maker, it appears Merrill rods were made in the 1960's out of Massachusetts and it seems like they are hard to come by. This example is in good shape and it is ready to fish with or collect. It measures 7 1/2' long and it weighs 4.3oz (it feels like it would handle a 5-6wt fly line just fine). I am not entirely sure if this rod is original or if it has been redone at some point in time (I had a hard time finding any other examples). With that being said, the varnish has minor wear, but for the most part this rod looks great. The cork handle has some soiling, but it still feels nice in your hand. The ferrules fit tight on this rod. The sock is a replacement and it only has two slots. All-in-all, a cool rod to add to your collection! Please see all of the photos and thank you for looking.
