Description: Here I have for sale a New Directions 1st edition of Lionel Trilling's critical study of E.M. Forster in hardcover with dust jacket published in 1943. This was part of New Directions Books' The Makers of Modern Literature series. The book is VG with clean, green boards and black gilt. The boards have fading around edges. Tight binding and clean, unmarked pages. Some foxing to endpapers and page ends. The dust jacket is VG with still bright colors. Sun darkening to spine and rear panel. Significant chipping to top and bottom of spine that curls around to front panel. Multiple smaller chips along edges. Sunning on inside flaps. The DJ is price-clipped and is protected in mylar.
