Description: Outstanding enameled silver souvenir spoon of Rome, Italy. About 5" long. I think these hallmarks are European or Italian. The first one is '800', which indicates 'International Coin Silver', typically found in Europe towards the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. '800' is 80% fine silver (for comparison, 'Sterling' is 92.5% fine silver). The enamel decoration on this item is stunning. The enameled bowl; shows the Pantheon in Rome. 'SPQR' refers to an Italian phrase abbreviated by the letters SPQR - the phrase is "The Senate and People of Rome". Some Italian soccer teams from Rome have started wearing this throwback abbreviation on their jerseys. At first glance the 'Q' looks like an 'O', but upon a closer look it is definitely a 'Q'. An outstanding vintage silver souvenir spoon brought back from Europe in the days before air travel.
