European SHELL SOUVENIR from BRANCHVILLE NEW JERSEY, Embossed, Generic 1907

Description: Branchville is a borough in Sussex County, in the sate of New Jersey with a population of 841 in 2020. It is located in the northernmost region of the county and was established by settlers from Connecticut in the 18th century. It grew quickly and in the 1820s the town was divided into building lots. By the year 1844, it was a well-established community with 32 dwellings. An extension of rail service to the site brough an even greater boon to the village. It was incorporated in 1898, from portions of Frankford Township. The borough was named for its site at a branch of the Paulins Kill. This card is one of the American city, embossed, “Shell Souvenir from” cards published in Europe during c 1910. This “Welcome to Branchville N.J.” was postmarked 1907 in Branchville and is in very good condition with minor wear and a clean, clear, with bright colors, image. The reverse has a message, “How’s George’s Cold” message, is addressed and clean.
