Description: This spectacular Uchikake kimono was meant to be worn by a Japanese bride at her wedding reception. Uchikake are the most elaborately decorated type of kimono, and this one is stunning. The white brocade silk has a subtle pattern of cranes and Japanese motifs that softly catch the light. The truly exceptional beauty lies in the elaborately embroidered cranes on the front, back and sleeves. Several of these auspicious symbols have been enhanced with tiny silver sequins (see pics). Uchikake are very long and are worn without an obi. The garment is left open, like a coat, with the thickly padded hem trailing behind. This kimono is lined with white silk. Measurements: Shoulder to Hem: 73" Back center to Sleeve Edge 25.5” Sleeve drop: 41" This very special piece dates to the late 1990s or early 2000s. Condition is very good and all the embellishments are intact. I didn’t find any stains or issues but this item is a pre-owned and may have minor signs of wear.
