This is an American piece, dating to around 1910. The pin is done in a beautiful scrolled design, set with a round opal between two pearls. The opal is a gorgeous specimen, with bright flashes of green, orange and blue fire, very lively. The pin has a clasp with a safety latch, as well as a hook for stability and a further safety pin attached via a chain. This stickpin is topped with an old mine cut diamond, for an extra touch. This piece is in great condition. The pearls are replacements, probably for diamonds or other stones. The clasp functions well and closes securely. There are no breaks, and no repairs. The clasp is stamped 14k, which applies only to the clasp, which is a replacement. The pin itself is nitric acid tested and guaranteed 18 karat gold. The pin is about 2 1/4 inches long.
