Signed by the author to front free endpaper; with second signature, and inscription, from Ernest W Chandler. Chandler was Farnol's agent and secretary, mentioned in Farnol's 'ante scriptum' to this book. Moderate ink staining, foxing and tanning to pages and plates; text ad images unaffected. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters and hinges causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Text block edges nicked and scratched. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with moderate paint and water staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Heavy water staining and loss of colour to rear. Spine has heavier tanning with soft splitting, fraying and crushing to ends. Gilt lettering is noticeably darkened. Book has a slight forward lean. This book has been inspected carefully by hand by trained book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured.
