Description: I just purchased a huge collection of Fenton vaseline opalescent hobnail pieces in many different shapes and sizes. I will list the entire collection as time permits going into the fall and winter. The Fenton Glass company of West Virginia began marketing the hobnail pattern in the early 1940s first in blue and French opalescent. In 1941 Fenton introduced the topaz or canary yellow which took the markets by storm. Due to World War II, the company discontinued production of this color because of the scarcity of the materials in its making. Topaz opalescent again came back to the market in 1959 through 1962. Once more sometime in the 1980s Fenton again produced this color of glass, however, all the pieces were marked with the raised oval logo usually found on the bottom of each item. There were shapes and sizes different in the later years, however, many of the original pieces came back into production. All the pieces in this collection react brilliantly in the presence of ultraviolet light, as pictured. Most of the pieces will be listed in the BIN format at reasonable values based on current and sold prices of like or similar shapes. A great opportunity to pick up some truly collectible pieces as gifts or to complete a collection of a particular shape or size. So, without further ado, here we go! Perhaps one of if not the hardest shape to find in the Fenton vaseline opalescent hobnail pattern are these large swung vases. They were produced with both pedestal or flat bases and range in height from 12 inches up to 18+ inches tall. As visible in one of the pictures, this example measures just short of 19 inches in height. The piece spans almost 4” diameter just above the bottom rim. After cleaning and thorough examination several times, I can find no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. The vase is clean without a logo on the bottom therefore from earlier production. An excellent chance to add an extremely tough piece to any Fenton hobnail collection. Due to its size and value, this vase will be double boxed, shipped UPS ground, fully insured at a fixed price. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
