Description: This is a lovely and Fine Antique Old 18th c. American Colonial Folk Art Dog Girl Portrait Oil Painting on canvas, likely dating to the late 1700's. This artwork depicts a young brown-haired girl, in an elegant dress, with a King Charles Spaniel puppy trying to get her attention. She holds a tricorne hat in her left hand, and stares directly at the viewer's gaze. Her face closely resembles a 18th century porcelain doll head. This artwork appears to be unsigned, but perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? Approximately 24 3/4 inches x 30 inches. Good condition for centuries of age, with a few scuffs and areas of paint loss (please see photos.) This painting has been re-lined onto a newer canvas decades ago, likely in the 1950's - 1960's. This artwork was likely by the hand of an itinerant painter, who did portraits on commission. Acquired from an old collection in Los Angeles, California. However, I believe that this painting almost definitely originated from the Northeastern United States. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
